PINK OCTOBER: BAMENDA STEPS UP BREAST CANCER AWARENESS.

Hundreds of residents braved the rain in Bamenda on October 12, 2026, to join a solidarity walk aimed at raising awareness about breast cancer and encouraging early detection.

The march, led by the Regional Delegate of Public Health, Dr Ambe Lionel, brought together participants in a collective effort to promote better understanding of the disease, its prevention, and the importance of seeking medical attention early.

The initiative is supported by the Alliance Française of Bamenda, the NGO OWED, and AFG Bank. Beyond the street march, the campaign includes radio discussions and breast cancer screening sessions to reach a wider audience and encourage people to take their health seriously.

Activities will continue on Wednesday, October 14, at the Alliance Française de Bamenda Hall. The programme will feature a conference, educational talks, and awareness sketches designed to provide practical information on breast cancer prevention and early detection.

As Pink October activities continue across the country, the mobilisation in Bamenda highlights the importance of community involvement in breaking the silence surrounding breast cancer and promoting timely screening.
